Davao Export Posts Positive Increase in First Quarter
Comments: No CommentsThe Davao region has posted $8.4 million worth of exports from January to June 2008. The domestic sale has generated an increase of 62 percent in the first semester of 2008. The domestic sales reached 273.72 Million Pesos as compared to 167.98 million pesos in the same period last year. Agricultural products such as copra, bananas and abacca are just one of the top products exported by the Davao region.
The Department of Trade and Industry further said that program called “One Town One Product” (OTOP”) greatly helps to the significant increase of the Davao export.
Pearl Farm Names New Manager
Comments: No CommentsThe Pearl Farm Beach Resort has named its new general manager on August 5, 2008. Karl Frederick Sims is now the new general manager of Pearl Farm Beach Resort after a turn-over ceremony held at Davao Marina in Lanang.
Karl Frederick Sims worked as a General Manager of Hotel Izan Caceres in Spain. The Pearl Farm Beach Resort is one of the popular tourist destinations in Davao. It has been featured many times by both local and international media.

Davao City Can Meet Outsourcing Demand
Comments: No CommentsAccording to the former Information and Communication Technology chairman of Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the availability of human resources is not a big issue when it comes to outsourcing investments. Davao City has vested with rich human resources capable of English communication. In fact, Davao City has one of the highest acceptance rate when it comes to call center application. This is also one of the reasons why many big players in the call center industry are now investing in Davao City like Sutherland, G-Com, Western Wats, Concentrix, formerly Link to Support and many more. Davao City has one of the highest literacy rate in the Philippines.
There are numerous universities and colleges in Davao and neighboring areas that are producing competent graduates every year that can be readily deployed in outsourcing businesses like call centers.
Davao Cited As One of the Asian Cities of the future
Comments: No CommentsIn the recent survey conducted by the Finance Direct Investment (FDI) magazine of the Financial Times Group, Davao has chosen as one of the Asian cities of the future. Among the qualities considered in the survey are the quality of life, availability of human resources and the cost of doing business. The result of the said survey is a positive indication of the growing confidence of International business community to the city of Davao.
Other Philippince cities namely Quezon City ande Cebu City also included in the top ten. Progressive cities like Singapore and Hongkong also made it in the list.
