Davao City has just formally unveiled its new tourism brand with a tagline “Life is here”. The new tourism brand primarily talks about what life is in Davao City. The event was held at the Grand Men Seng Hotel and was attended by the tourism stakeholders, business sectors, local government officials and as well as the media.

The Marco Polo Hotel Davao has been included in the list of best hotels in Southeast Asia according to the 2011 Insiders’ Select™ by Expedia. The Insiders’ Select list gives recognition to hotels that constantly deliver excellent service, best experience and outstanding value to customers.
Expedia is the largest online travel company in the world. It gives a picture of the world’s best hotels based on Expedia customer reviews and Expedia experts. This year’s list was streamlined down from 1,000 to the top 500 best hotels in the world.
SM-Carlson to Build Park Inn by Radisson Hotel in Davao City

SM Group has again forged partnership with Carlson as the company plans to expands its hotel business, this time in Davao. The company will be constructing a 200-room hotel worth Php 750 million and will feature amenities like restaurant, meeting rooms, swimming pool and a gym.
SM Hotels and Conventions Corp, a wholly owned subsidiary SM Investments Corp. had signed a contract with Carlson, a global hospitality and travel company for the establishment of a Park Inn by Radisson hotel in Davao. Radisson will be handling the management and operations of the hotel. One completed, the hotel will be the very first hotel by Radisson in the Asia Pacific region that will carry the Park Inn brand name. Read the rest of this entry »
Island Garden City of Samal Launches “Visit Samal Island” Campaign

To attract more tourists to visit Island Garden City of Samal, tourism stakeholders in Samal launch a new and aggressive marketing campaign dubbed as “Visit Samal Island”. The campaign is expected to draw more than 100,000 visitors by giving away free passports. These passports entitled visitors to avail discounts and freebies to tourism establishments in Samal Island.
The free passports will be given out to strategic areas like shopping malls and public terminals like the Davao International Airport Terminal and Ecoland Overland Transport Terminal. The free passports include information about hotel and resort accommodations and the different activities in Samal Island scheduled from March to May this year. The exciting activities include Miss Tourism Samal Island 2011, search for Miss Body Beautiful, kite-flying contests, culinary, frisbee and beach-volleyball competitions.
