The Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (DCCCII) together with business groups from the tourism industry and the local government units will be working hand-in-hand in formulating initiatives to promote Davao City as an ideal place for tourism, trade and investments.
The DCCCII stated that there is a need to improve the image of Davao City which is often affected by the negative perception and travel advisories. They will be working with the private and the media in order to come up with more positive news about Davao. The main focus is to make Davao City as a business and tourist destinations so that more investments will come in.
Aside from being a clean and disciplined city, the strong sense of governance implemented by city government is one of the driving forces that have beefed up local tourism industry of Davao. Another good reason to sell is the cost of doing business which is incredibly lower compared to other cities in the Philippines particularly Manila and Cebu. The cost of doing business is one of the winning factors why many multinational companies have already established their presence in Davao.
National Association of Independent Travel Associations of Davao President Wanda Teo and presently the Tourism Congress secretary mentioned that they are planning to repackage Davao City and part of it is to promote the fact that city has abundant things to offer and comparable to those in other areas of the world. She also added that there are positive and unique areas that only Davao has to offer.
Davao City has become an interesting site for study tours of both government and private organizations. Just recently, students coming from Singapore had their volunteer work in building houses for Gawad Kalinga. Gawad Kalinga is a foundation which helps in providing shelter to homeless Filipinos. The visitors were also impressed with cleanliness of the city and its peace and order situation during their visit.
