Davao City to Host Asian Bird Fair

Davao city will host the first ever Asian Bird Fair that will run from September 24 to 25, 2010 at the Waterfront Insular Hotel.

The event is organized by the Wild Bird Club of the Philippines together with the Philippine Eagle Foundation and the City government of Davao. The Asian Bird Fair will showcase the respective bird festivals of different countries in Asia.

The Fair is expected to attract bird watchers, conservationists, eco-tourism promoters, environmentalists and more from around the Philippines and as well as from other countries.

Davao as a prime host has a wealth of bird species and has a huge potential for bird watching as an added feature for eco-tourism.

The First Asian Bird Fair also aims to promote the Philippines as a top bird watching destination in the world.

    I heard a lot of people’s comments, they come to the fair expecting that they will see different kinds/species of live birds. But unfortunately only five live birds are there the rest are only photos, and most of them disappointed asking what kind of bird fair is that? I think there should be a lot of live birds in the exibit too.
