The new ordinance prohibits smoking in public places and private establishments and in gatherings such as rallies and parades. It also prohibits the use of electronic cigarettes, waterpipe, shishas and the like.

Violators will be fined 1,000 for the first offense, 2,500 for second offense and 5,000 for third respectively.

The Davao City Anti-Smoking Task Force will start issuing citation tickets to individuals who will be violating the new anti-smoking ordinance starting on May 31, 2013.

Another landmark legislation for Davao! This step should be emulated by other cities in the Philippines especially in Manila.

This new ordinance will help us to have a cleaner air in Davao and less garbage. 😉

    Kudos to our LGU!
