Davao City Unveils New Tourism Brand

Davao City has just formally unveiled its new tourism brand with a tagline “Life is here”. The new tourism brand primarily talks about what life is in Davao City. The event was held at the Grand Men Seng Hotel and was attended by the tourism stakeholders, business sectors, local government officials and as well as the media.

The new tourism brand uses Philippine Eagle as a mascot during the launching. Eagle is the new face of Davao and is uniquely Davao.

Davao is an ideal tourist destination mainly because it has many things to offer to visitors. Among the top tourist destinations in Davao are Eden Nature Park, Matina Town Square, Philippine Eagle Center, Davao Crocodile Park and Malagos Garden Resort.

Inline with the event is the launching of the new tourism website of Davao—www.davaotourism.com, which features the different tourist destinations of Davao. An information center has also been setup at the Davao International Airport to cater the needs of visiting tourists.

The new tourism campaign will appear on print and television advertisements.

The City Government of Davao is also targeting MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions) event be held in the city.

With this new branding, the city government is expecting more tourists and investors to come and visit Davao. The city tourism aims to capture the number spot as the Philippines’ most-visited destination.

    The logo is good but for me, it doesn’t stand out among the rest of the group. I mean, if I would just buzz around the city, I could misinterpret that logo for something else. But I do hope that the city would be more suitable for investors.

    In addition to tourism initiatives, I suggest that our City Government should make use of social media like twitter, linkedin, facebookm, youtube for more aggressive marketing campaign. The city can target more yuppies and online users.

    A lot of potential tourists are using Internet for their next travel destination. If we can capture even a small percentage, this is a great addition to our numbers of visitors.
