A multi-billion medical and wellness complex is envisioned to be built in Davao. This was revealed by an industry group official. The said project entails Php 5 billion and will include a hotel, medical tower, a commercial complex and other related businesses and will rise on a 10-hectare property in the southern part of the city.

This positive news came after groups of hospital owners, together with the Philippine Retirement Authority, Davao Investment and Promotions Center, Philippine Medical Association held a meeting and optimistically decided on the project.

Carlos Omar A. Vargas, president of the Chamber of Real Estate and Builders Association said that the proposal has yet to be finalized. He further said that most of the investors are from Manila and engaged in the medical profession.

The planned project will feature a green development where pockets of gardens will be included. It would also include a hospital that would initially cost about P350 million and will serve as a main vehicle of the project. Mr. Vargas further said that the complex will use an environment-friendly design to lessen the negative impact of the project to the environment.

Once this project is realized, this definitely helps Davao City to become a health and wellness hub in this part of the country. Davao city enjoys fine weather and typhoon-free climate which makes it ideal for retirement.
