Kadayawan Festival is celebrated annually as a thanksgiving festival of Davao City and is known as one of the biggest festivals in the Philippines. “Kadayawan sa Davao” reflects the bountiful harvest, abundance of vegetation, tranquility of living, richness of culture and gift of nature.
This renowned festival is celebrated every third week of August with a very festive environment that every local and foreign visitors would certainly enjoy. Street dancing competitions, exhibits that promote Davao’s best products, talents and best services are made up to complete the said event.
Davao, as a booming city of the south has once again received an achievement as the third top destination of the Philippines. The top of the list is Cebu with 422,239 tourists from January to March this year and followed by Boracay with 158,030 arrivals in the same quarter. Based on tourist arrivals, Davao has 156,468 visitors and continuously growing. It is projected that before the year ends, Davao could be one of the top “must-visit” cities in the Philippines.
According to the Department of Tourism, the overall tourist arrivals have reached up to 10.33 percent or a total of 1.3 million. On the first quarter, foreign tourist arrivals recorded to have four percent increase while domestic tourist grows higher up to 13 percent. Due to cheaper flights, better pension houses including infrastructure and good hotels that would accommodate visitors has brought the rise of tourist arrivals in the regions.
