Wings Air, a unit of Indonesia’s Lion Air, launched last weekend its Davao-Manado roundtrip special charter using its new 72-seater ATR 72-500. Manado is the capital and commercial hub of North Sulawesi province of Indonesia.
This latest development will definitely help strengthen the links between Indonesia and the Philippines. Both countries are members of the Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area and local tourism stockholders are urging airline companies to launch more direct flights in this region.
The regular flight is scheduled on July 5 with a plan to service Davao-Manado route every Thursdays.
Flights between Davao and Manado take about an hour and a half.
